Job Summary:

The Marist / Health Quest School of Medicine (“SOMed”) seeks a Director of Compliance and Accreditation to join its team in a period of dramatic development and expansion.  The Director of Compliance and Accreditation will have the primary responsibility for managing the Marist / Health Quest School of Medicine’s process of achieving program accreditation and approval from the Liaison Committee on Undergraduate Medical Education (“LCME”), the Middle States Commission (“Middle States”), and the New York State Education Department (“NYSED”). 

During and after initial program accreditation, the Director of Compliance and Accreditation will play an integral role in garnering widespread participation among the faculty, staff, and students in accreditation needs and continuous quality improvement (“CQI”) processes for the program.   

Qualifications:

Master’s level degree required in the area of business, health care administration, higher education administration, public health, or related health professional or administration field.  Minimum of seven (7) years related work experience in medical education or other health professions education, including at least (3) years in a supervisory capacity.  The ideal candidate must possess knowledge of LCME/NYSED/Middle States (or comparable) processes, procedures, timelines, standards and compliance issues, including affiliation agreements.  He/she must have experience in and understanding of technology-enabled student success methodologies with the ability to creatively apply technology to medical school program evaluation and improvement, while establishing and implementing continuous quality improvement processes (“CQI”) within the academic program. 

The Director must demonstrate an exemplary ability for collecting, synthesizing, displaying, recording, and effectively communicating quantitative and qualitative data.  Understanding of medical terminology and environment and knowledge of the Health Insurance and Portability Act (“HIPAA”) and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (“FERPA”) is strongly preferred.  Must be an energetic, self-directed team player, comfortable in a start-up environment, and committed to the mission of Marist College/Health Quest.

Position Details

Some of the key duties and responsibilities associated with this position are as follows:

  • Oversee the preparation for LCME preliminary accreditation application planned for Spring/Summer 2020 submission and survey visit planned for Summer/Fall 2020 or Winter 2021;
  • Coordinate with the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs in proposal submission of NYSED, including master plan amendment and curricular registration;
  • Coordinate with the Office of Vice President for Academic Affairs in overseeing applications to Middle States, including approval of substantive changes;
  • Oversee ongoing accreditation maintenance processes, including reports, self-studies, site visits, and reviews;
  • Advise the program evaluation committees and course and clerkship directors on the design and implementation of data-driven program evaluations and development of program improvement strategies;
  • Working with the Director of Evaluation, apply technology-enabled evaluation methodologies to UME program evaluation within the context of LCME standards and distribute annual program evaluation reports to key stakeholders;
  • Participate in accreditation-related self-studies and reviews (including sufficiency of funds), including those associated with the LCME, NYSED, and Middle States;
  • Serve as an active member of various committees and advisory boards;
  • Other duties as assigned.

By 2028, that class size projects to increase to 120.
